Online Chapter Meeting July 8: Annual Chapter Review with Field Trips Update, Beth Erwin’s “Wicked Plants of Central Texas”, and Chapter Election Results

** ARCHIVED POST – LINKS AND IMAGES MAY NOT WORK**

Join NPSOT-Wilco online on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 7:00 pm, for our annual chapter meeting.   You must register in advance to attend. See Zoom instructions later in this post.

We have two main events: news from the Field Trip Committee on what they’ve been up to and plans for upcoming field trips; and Wicked Plants of Central Texas, a short program by Beth Erwin about a few of the plants you might meet when out and about in our area that you should socially distance yourself from. We’ll also announce election results* for the new chapter board that takes office on September 1, 2021.

At every meeting, we give away a book about native plants or the meeting topic to one randomly chosen meeting attendee!

* Election Note to Chapter Members: No later than June 23, an online ballot and instructions will be emailed to you at the email address you have on record with the Society’s state office. A blog post will go out the same day to alert you to look for the email. Voting will close on July 6.  [UPDATE: The online ballot was emailed to members on June 21. The blog post is here.]

** ARCHIVED POST – LINKS AND IMAGES MAY NOT WORK**

— by Randy Pensabene

Your NPSOT-Williamson County Chapter needs YOU!   All elected NPSOT-Wilco Board positions for the term September 2021-August 2022 are now open for nominations. (Elected board positions are: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and two Directors.) We encourage newcomers and seasoned members to consider serving. Everyone can contribute to our continued success as a chapter.

Descriptions for all Wilco board positions can be found on our website under ‘About Us’ > ’Chapter Documents’ or click on this link: NPSOT-Wilco Board Member Duties Feb 2021.  You may also ask questions by sending an email to wilco-chapter@npsot.org or you may contact any current board member directly.  You’ll find a list of current board members at this link.

We are looking at beginning live meetings where we will physically meet in a room and also broadcast over Zoom and will keep you informed. Our elections would normally be held at our July meeting; however, this year our elections will be held by online ballot. A ballot with complete instructions will be provided to chapter members via email as our July 8th meeting date nears.

NPSOT-Wilco Nominating Committee,
Randy Pensabene, Erin Buhl, Nancy Pumphrey

Reminder for Chapter Members: March 24 is the last day to vote on chapter bylaws

** ARCHIVED POST – LINKS AND IMAGES MAY NOT WORK**

Wednesday, March 24, 2021, is the last day NPSOT-Wilco chapter members may cast votes on revisions proposed to our chapter bylaws.  If you have already voted, thank you!    If you have not yet voted, you still have time.  Only chapter members are eligible to vote.

  • If you are a NPSOT-Wilco chapter member and you do not see the ballot email in your inbox, please check your spam folder.  (Ballots were sent on February 21 to chapter email addresses in the state’s member database.)

NPSOT-Wilco’s current board of directors recommends amending our chapter bylaws to define that either electronic or in-person member voting is allowed on chapter business.   The proposed revisions were announced in this post on February 21.  See the draft document on the chapter website under Who We Are->Chapter Documents->NPSOT-Wilco Bylaws-proposed.
