Online Chapter Meeting June 10: “Landscaping with Native Plants: Ten Design Principles for Home Gardeners” with Leah Churner

** ARCHIVED POST – LINKS AND IMAGES MAY NOT WORK**

Join NPSOT-Wilco’s online chapter meeting on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 7:00 pm, when Leah Churner will present Landscaping with Native Plants: Ten Design Principles for Home Gardeners.  (You must register to attend the meeting. Instructions are later in this post. Starting this month, we’re using a new Zoom account so be sure to read the registration info.)

We give away a book at every meeting — about native plants or the meeting topic — to one randomly chosen meeting attendee!

About the topic:  Good garden design is always a balance between the aesthetic and the practical. The conventional design wisdom found in garden books is typically geared toward audiences in England, California, or the East Coast — all very different climates than ours. How can we adapt the “rules of composition” to Central Texas? In this presentation, Leah Churner (Delta Dawn Gardens) will introduce some basic principles of landscape design — how to group plants, build contrast with shapes and textures, and work with the vertical plane — and discuss how these ideas can be applied to sustainable, water-wise gardens in our area. Learn how to create a pleasing design with a palette of native plants, support local ecology, and have fun in the process!
