Meeting Reminder: June 8, “Living Soil: The World Beneath Our Feet” with Jim Williams

Join NPSOT-Williamson County on Thursday, June 8, 2023, when our featured topic will be Living Soil: The World Beneath Our Feet with Jim Williams.  Free and open to the public. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM.  Read more about our topic and guest speaker in this previous meeting announcement.

==> If you attend in person, we’re at the Georgetown Public Library, 2nd floor.  If you attend in person, you are giving consent to be videoed for Zoom and YouTube (if the meeting is to be posted on YouTube).

==> To attend via Zoom instead of in person, register at https://npsot-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUrcOGvqDsqHtGoN0st66ntnbAbzkplFoX7#/registration

At every meeting, we give away a book — about native plants or the meeting topic — to one randomly chosen in-person attendee!

NPSOT-Williamson County meetings are free and open to the public. We hope you attend!  Meetings may be in person, virtual, or both, so be sure to check details in the meeting announcement. Meetings are announced on our website, our calendar and Facebook. See our Wilco Home page for the list of speakers planned for this year.

Have an idea for a speaker?  Let Program Leader Susie Hickman know via email to wilco-chapter@npsot.org.

All elected NPSOT-Wilco Board positions for the term September 1, 2023-August 30, 2024, are now open for nominations.  We encourage newcomers and seasoned members to consider serving. Everyone can contribute to our continued success as a chapter. (See our elected and appointed positions under Chapter Officers and Board Members near the bottom the page Wilco Home.)

June 18 is the last day to submit a nomination for the ballot. Send nominations or your questions to the Nominating Committee at wilco-chapter@npsot.org.

Election for chapter offices will be held by online ballot. Only chapter members are eligible to vote.

The final slate will be published in late June when we email ballots and voting instructions to chapter members. (Ballots will be sent to the member email addresses on file with the Society’s state office.  On the day we email the ballot to chapter members, we will publish a blog post alerting chapter members to check their email.)

Our election results will be announced at our July 13th Chapter meeting.

Volunteer with us this Sunday, May 28, from 10am-noon or noon-2pm in NW Leander for a conservation plant rescue. Our top priority for this rescue will be saving plants to give to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and The Wildflower Center.

The plants we rescue for them will be propagated and conserved in perpetuity. There will be additional plants available to dig for your own projects after our conservation goals are met.

You must be a current NPSOT member and at least 18 to attend. (Join or renew here.)
