December 8, 2022, In-Person Only: NPSOT-Williamson County Chapter’s Annual Holiday Gathering & Silent Auction

Join us in-person only for NPSOT-Wilco’s annual year-end gathering and silent auction, Thursday, December 8, 2022. Guests are welcome!

Check in begins at 6:30pm. The meeting starts at 7:00pm. We meet at the Georgetown Public Library, 2nd floor, 402 West 8th St, Georgetown, TX 78626.

  • Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided by the chapter. (No dinner. This is NOT a potluck.)
  • The auction is a fun way to pass along something you’re ready to part with while you bid on items you can’t resist. We’ll have bid sheets available at the meeting for your items, or download them from this link and bring them along.
  • New this year, chapter donations for the silent auction include visits to your garden from chapter “experts.”
  • Also new this year will be your chance to ask/stump our (presumed) experts with your questions! You can send your questions ahead of the meeting to wilco-chapter@npsot.org.
  • The chapter spending plan will be presented during a brief business meeting.

NPSOT-Williamson County Chapter will be having a plant rescue at [location removed].  The project will be this Sunday, November 13, 2022, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

You keep what you dig.  Bring your own digging implements and your own containers.  The area we will be in is 1/2 mile long and 120′ wide. If we get rain there are some muddy spots. Even though it is west of I-35 it is predominately gumbo clay.

  • What: Black Friday Opt-Outside, Seek Nature not the Mall
  • When: Saturday, November 25, 2022, 1:00pm-3:30pm
  • Where: Lake Georgetown Spillway Trail. Starting from a parking lot across from Cedar Breaks Park, 2100 Cedar Breaks Rd, Georgetown, TX. See detailed directions below.  Note: the trail is outside the park.

  • Turn west on Cedar Breaks Road from D. B. Wood Road:
    • Access D. B. Wood Road from the north by Williams Dr. From Williams Dr. turn south for approximately 1.9 miles, at water tower turn west (right) on Cedar Breaks Rd.
    • Access D. B. Wood Road from the south by University (US 29). From University turn north on D. B. Wood Road and turn west (left) on Cedar Breaks Rd. at the water tower. There is a sign to Cedar Breaks Park.
  • Go about 1.4 miles on Cedar Breaks Rd. Instead of turning left into the park entrance, turn right to a parking lot. The hike will start from the parking lot.
  • It’s helpful if you can carpool. The parking lot is small at this popular hiking trail, so we might have to find overflow parking.

The hike is approximately 1.5 miles. Some parts of the trail are rocky and a little steep.  Come dressed appropriately for the weather and terrain. Bring your own water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat and walking stick.

Our field trips are free and open to the public.
