IMPORTANT=> Sept 29 Update: See our 2024 Fall Native Plant Sale page for the most up to date plant lists and information about the in-person sale and the pop-up online sale. (The post below was first published in July 2024. It will not be updated with new lists.)

Save the date! The NPSOT–Wilco Chapter’s Fall Native Plant Sale will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Southwest Williamson County Regional Park, 3005 County Road 175, Leander, TX 78641.  We will be in the pavilions (Boulder East and Boulder West) near the Quarry Splash Pad. Sale hours will be from 10:30 AM – 2 PM 11:00 AM – 2 PM or until we run out of plants.

Most of the plants will be in one-gallon sized pots, which is appropriate for fall planting.  At this point, we are not planning on having an online pre-sale of trees as we have in the past few years. We are not doing away with online sales forever. It just doesn’t look feasible for us right now.

See our tentative sale list at this link => 2024.07.17-Fall 2024 Sale-preliminary list.PDF. (Can’t open the list? See the note at the end.) This is not our usual descriptive list with prices and sizes; that will come in October. Several plants on the list are the offspring (grown from seeds) of our native plant rescues in the county. Those will be noted in the October list.

If you are seeking plants that are not on the list, please send an email to me at wilco-chapter@npsot.org and I’ll hunt for it.

We only sell Texas native plants, and we try to make sure everything we sell is well-adapted to grow in Williamson County.

Hope to see you there!
Beth Erwin, NPSOT-Wilco Plant Sale Leader

* Note: the plant list is a PDF. Last plant sale, a few folks reported problems opening PDFs on their phones. If that happens to you, please let the webmaster know via this form and we’ll get the list to you.

August 8 Chapter Meeting: “The Native Aquatic Plants of Texas” with Casey Williams

Join NPSOT-Williamson County on Thursday, August 8, 2024, when our featured topic will be “The Native Aquatic Plants of Texas” with Casey Williams.  The meeting begins at 7:00 PM.  Our guest speaker’s presentation begins after a short business meeting. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Updated July 22: We will know closer to the date whether or not this guest presentation will be recorded for YouTube. Check the meeting’s calendar entry for the latest info about recording. The meeting will be recorded for YouTube. The video will be published asap after the meeting date.

==> To attend via Zoom register at https://npsot-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwofu6gqD4pGtzrVeTUVTyDZVxIHZRcSHh-#/registration

About our topic:  While familiarity with Texas’ native flora is improving, many people overlook the diversity of Texas’ aquatic plants. This presentation will provide a basic understanding of what constitutes an aquatic plant, why they are important and highlight varying habitats and species found throughout Texas.

About our speaker:  Casey is an aquatic ecologist and plant ecologist for a private consulting firm. He has been involved with aquatic plant biology, conservation and restoration since graduate school at Texas State University where he mapped and studied the aquatic plants of the San Marcos and Comal springs. He currently resides in San Marcos, Texas and spends his free time kayaking, hiking and traveling to find…. you guessed it. More aquatic plants.
