DESCRIPTION:Start the new year with a tree walk in the park!  Led by Gary Bowers. \nOld Settlers Park\,  Virgil Rabb Pavilion\n3017–3099 Whitlow Way\nRound Rock\, TX 78665 \nView on Apple Maps or Google Maps \nWe’ll meet in the parking area at the Rabb pavilion off of Whitlow Way. From there we will walk around the pavilion to the nature trail. The walk will be around 2 miles and take 2 hours. We will focus on tree identification during dormancy\, discuss different areas of the park (riparian\, meadow)\, and overall enjoy being outside on the first day of the year. \nMeeting point and parking. We’ll also talk about how to manage fire ants. \nAbout our speaker: Wizzie Brown is a Senior Extension Program Specialist-IPM with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in entomology from Ohio State University and a Master’s of Science in entomology from Texas A&M University. After leaving Texas A&M\, Wizzie worked in structural pest control before taking a job with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Austin. She is a Board Certified Entomologist with a specialty in Urban Entomology and holds a non-commercial license from the Texas Structural Pest Control Service. \n\n\n\n\nAt every meeting\, we give away a book — about native plants or the meeting topic — to one randomly chosen in-person attendee! \n\nHave an idea for a speaker?  Let Program Leader Susie Hickman know via  email to wilco-chapter@npsot.org. \nNPSOT-Williamson County meetings are free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with us Saturday\, January 20th from 10am-1pm in Liberty Hill as we rescue plants from a 2 acre property prior to construction. There is easy parking next to the site\, but be mindful that there is tall grass to walk through and no trails. You may dig plants for conservation and/or to take for your own projects.
