Some inclines and declines before transitioning to a gravel path along lake.\n\n\nTrail Summary\nWho is this hike for? \nIf you enjoy a moderately paced hike with a few brief stops to learn more about native plants\, this is the hike for you. \nHow difficult is this hike? \nWe will descend down to the lake and then back up. SUMMARY:NPSOT-Wilco Chapter Meeting\, "Drop by Drop: The Impact of Small Changes" with Jessica Woods @ RR Public Library
DESCRIPTION:Join NPSOT-Williamson County on Thursday\, March 14\, 2024\, when our featured topic will be “Drop by Drop: The Impact of Small Changes” with Jessica Woods\, City of Round Rock Water Conservation Coordinator.  Free and open to the public. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM.  Our guest speaker’s presentation begins after a short business meeting. \n\n\n\n==> This month\, if you attend in person\, we’re at the Round Rock Public Library\, 200 E Liberty Ave\, Round Rock\, TX 78664.  Come early (6:30 PM) for expert advice\, to check out the seed swap board\, or just to visit. \n\n\n\n==> To attend via Zoom register at https://npsot-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUvde2srT8sHdxPatHqpIPtD7TxxHHj_1ZO#/registration. \n\n\n\nJessica Woods on Round Rock’s historic round rock.\n\nAbout our topic: During warm weather\, a large amount water is used outdoors on lawns and landscapes and much of it is wasted. With Central Texas still experiencing drought and low lake levels\, we want to prevent water waste. This presentation will cover the current drought conditions and several steps homeowners can do to effectively use water. Conservation programs the City of Round Rock offers will also be covered. \n\n\n\nAbout our speaker: Jessica Woods has worked as the City of Round Rock’s Water Conservation Program Coordinator since 2009. She manages all aspects of the growing city’s conservation program\, drought outreach\, and education efforts on a tight budget. Jessica earned a Master’s of Applied Geography degree from Southwest Texas State University. She’s the Texas Section AWWA Conservation and Reuse Division Chair and a certified Master Naturalist. She enjoys spending time outdoors\, attempting to garden\, and lounging around water with a good book and cold drink! \n\n\n\n\n\nAt every meeting\, we give away a book — about native plants or the meeting topic — to one randomly chosen in-person attendee! \n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Volunteer: Running Brushy Middle School Wildflower Seed Stomp
DESCRIPTION:Running Brushy Middle School’s Wildflower Seed Stomp is on Wednesday\, December 6\, 2023\, 4:30 PM\, at 2303 N. Lakeline Blvd.\, Cedar Park\, TX. \nOur NPSOT chapter is providing support for this Leander ISD student project.  We need some volunteers to show up at the school Wednesday afternoon to help monitor the wildflower seed dispersal and stomping.  This will take place in front of the school\, between the main entrance parking lot and Lakeline Blvd.  Part of the area has recently been disturbed with utility work and is mostly bare ground.  Around the edges\, there are some native species that do not need to be stomped. \nThere is a lot of enthusiasm among the student body for this event.  If you can come help\, please join us.  You will be protecting bluebonnet seedlings\, four-nerve daisies\, Blackfoot daisies and some other native species that are present. \nPlease wear your NPSOT name tag if you have one.  Because of school pick-up traffic\, it would be better to arrive a few minutes after 4:30. \nIf you have questions\, please send us an email at wilco-chapter@npsot.org.
